Movie Review: Suicide Squad

I went into this movie with low expectations and oh boy was I let down. I left the theater feeling wildly disappointed and a bit angry because of how obviously half-assed this movie was. You could tell that they were trying to make it like Deadpool with the crude humor and like Guardians of the Galaxy with the soundtrack, but they didn’t execute it at all. Was the music good? Sure. Who doesn’t like a bit of Queen? But did it fit the movie? Not at all. Suicide Squad didn’t seem to know what it wanted to be. Was it supposed to be dark? Was it supposed to be funny? I’m not sure. Were there parts that were dark? Yes. Were there parts that were funny? No, but they tried. The issue was that it wasn’t consistent. Had they just gone full dark (which is what everyone wanted), this movie…

It’s really quite simple

I was going to write a nice, long, well thought out post about the recent gun shenanigans south of the border. But I think something short and sweet is much more applicable. I can sum up my feelings in one thought: Stop shooting each other. Everyone is happier when no one is getting shot. It’s a scientific fact

No one cares about your political agenda

This past weekend we saw two separate shootings in the state of Florida that resulted in the deaths of 51 people, and leaving more than 50 more injured. The knee jerk response many people have in these cases is to immediately politicize the situation to call for gun control or anti-immigration. And while yes, there is a time and place to talk about these things, the moment these tragedies happen is not it. We don’t need to hear liberals chanting to ban guns and we don’t need conservatives chanting to kick everyone that isn’t white out of the country. We need to join together to support those that were affected by these violent outbreaks. The morning after the shooting at the Orlando night club we saw blood donation clinics at capacity with lines stretching around the block. That is the response we need from people. The keyboard warriors demanding guns…

Democracy Sucks

Alright, put down your torches and pitchforks. Maybe the title is a bit of an overstatement. Hear me out… Don’t get me wrong, democracy is great. For the people, by the people! Everyone has a say! Let’s elect officials that represent our beliefs and ideals that will help shape our world so we can have a better tomorrow! Yet, too often do I hear people say things like “My parents are conservative. I was raised conservative. I will be conservative until the day I die! Screw you, you dirty communists!”. The issue I have with people that have this thought process is that on many occasions they say they are conservative, yet their ideologies align much more with a more left wing government. They wish they had access to more reasonably priced child care. They take advantage of the safety nets offered. They complain that they are taxed too much…

First Post…

Hello and Welcome to 3 Guys 1 Blog. This is a blog created by three friends as an avenue to express our collective thoughts, opinions and ideas on everything from politics, to art and media. After spending countless hours on internet messaging services debating and arguing about various topics, we decided it would be fun to dedicate a site to the “riff raff” that is our conversations. Because of our diverse interests, we decided against pigeonholing the blog into one specific area and instead will post about a variety of topics. Maybe one day we will have a clear focus but until then posts will likely be broad in nature and content. Because we are just starting out there will likely be changes in the future to the appearance of the site, as well as the frequency of posts as we become more familiar with the platform. Thus, I will…
